Persephone - (9.75in x 10in x 5.5in)

This sculpture represents the Greek myth of Persephone. The god Hades fell madly in love with the gentle Persephone who was the beloved daughter of Zeus and the harvest goddess Demeter. Hades conspired and abducted Persephone bringing her into his realm.  While in captivity, she accepted a few pomegranate seeds.  Because of this gift, she had to spend half of the year in the underworld and the other half above with her mother.  Her fate personifies the seasons where there is life and growth when she is with her mother Demeter and fallow fields when she is in the underworld with Hades.
